Sugar cubes

Welcome to The Sugar Association of London

The Sugar Association of London was founded in 1882 to provide Rules and Contract conditions for the proper conduct of the raw sugar trade. The Association also supervises raw sugar cargoes delivered to London and provides a dispute resolution service to both members and non-members.

Rules and Contract Conditions

The Council of the Association is responsible for the framing of the Rules for the supervision of raw sugar cargoes in the United Kingdom and International ports. They are also responsible for framing the Rules and Contract conditions for the International Raw Trade.

Companies throughout the world use the Association's Arbitration Rules and Services which are available on this website. The Rules have been published in the Handbook of Arbitration Practice, by Ronald Berstein Q.C. He refers to these rules as being, "the best modern example of the single tier arbitration system in commodity trade arbitration. These rules serve as a clear general illustration of the close administration by a trade association of contract disputes".
